Namazgah

Smyrna Agora served as a Muslim cemetery between the 16^th and early 20^th Centuries. Moreover, by the 17^th Century, its eastern wing came to doubly serve as a Namazagh, or outdoor place of worship, to meet modern İzmir’s growing need for religious amenities, as it was rapidly undergoing a process of Turkification at the time.
